COVID Slows Shipments

COVID has a very long backlash on shipments. And, so much of the ingredients of supplements come from overseas. The supplement industry, like so many others, has become reliant on China for cheap ingredients. 

The oceans are reported as parking lots. So many vessels are unable to unload in various ports with COVID restrictions. Plus labor shortages compound the slow downs. 

Demand Out Stretch Supply

Again with COVID. Many more people decided to improve their immune system with supplements. Awesome that people get supplements help with simple things like immune support but the sharp rise in demand has created lasting supply problems.

Packaging Shortage Issues

COVID, again. 

Packaging is again, made overseas. Getting the raw materials, finished packaging, labels and such is a constant issue normally. COVID has compounded this. 

Plus. COVID has put demands on the materials used for packaging. Syringes for vaccines made of plastic have taken up plastic used for bottles. Etc. 

And, our attempts at recycling has not been robust enough or cost effective to loosen China's grip on our supply chain.

Artificial Oil Shortage

The new president has shut down oil production and transportation of oil in the US. What has that done to the supplement industry? Decreased raw materials and increased prices. 

The transportation costs for everything has increased - which will increase prices and decrease product availability. 

Plus the raw materials are heavily impacted. Plastics, oils and ingredients all rely on oil for supplement manufacture. If everything now comes from overseas, reminder of the above issues that are already impacting from COVID.
